Children Education Aid Program(CEAP)

Education is not free in Nepal. Families are often charged monthly or annual school fees by the local government to pay for the operation and maintenance of schools. Many families cannot afford the relatively high cost of school fees or are unable to forego the income of a working child.

Due to low incomes, illiteracy, and caste discrimination, many families engage their children either in domestic work or send them to wealthy families to work as domestic child laborers. This is why CWCS Nepal’s Children Education Aid Program (CEAP) is targeted towards impoverished children from disadvantaged and marginalized groups. By providing these children with scholarship support, the program has an immediate and direct impact on their lives.

Since, Children Education Aid Program (CEAP) is specifically designed to help the very poor and needy children those who are unable get access to education due to extreme poverty! Through this program our main aim is to support children those who are working in the various River bank of Nepal as a child labor. Just for the sake of helping their parents to get two times meals a day or even sometimes that is also not possible to get due to the uncertainty in their work!

Who are the beneficiaries?

• Children working in various river banks of Nepal.
• Children from poor family who have left their education incomplete,
• They -who are titled as so called lower casts in their society,
• Semi Orphan types children.
• Conflict-affected children who are physically and mentally disturbed.
• Children who have been displaced & forced into child labor in various sectors such as carpet factory, brick factory, domestic servant, dish washer in hotels/ restaurants etc.

Once the CWCS team has been traveling through the various river banks to identify such children’s needs, there we saw the children in extremely miserable condition, the small children taking sand from the river bank; sometimes they even need to sink inside the river to take out sand!, while other group of children were busy making stone crusher by their little innocent hands! Such a heart touching condition, for the one to see them working hard, it’s really measurable to see their life style!

In some cases we have found that some children working in the river bank are semi orphan (loosing either their father or mother), so their situation is even more serious!   CWCS Nepal wants to reach all of them, but our limited funding source has curbed us! Currently we are able to support only small group of these children, but our provision is to expand this support programs to at least one child per family working in River bank. CWCS Nepal is assisting these children with educational materials, school uniforms, expenses of their school fee where necessary.

In order to make this program effective, CWCS Nepal seeks financial support from various donors and sponsors. This project aims to provide the educational Sponsorship of US$ 340 (Euro 245) to each child for their schooling education in their own village. The fund received will be directly utilized for the children’s school fees, stationeries, outfits and other necessary educational resources. Though the school is located within the village, there is no lodging or accommodation cost which makes this genuinely educational based sponsorship. All your money is going towards their educational needs. In return, you can see and feel the real impact that your support has made as we keep in contact via regular school reports, photos and updates on each child’s progress.

We oath,  the contribution you make, directly benefit the above mentioned groups as this project is aimed at empowering all those underprivileged children and community as well. We realize, education is only a powerful tool to combat their misfortunes and shape their future. Since children are the hope of the future, empowered children in the long run will undoubtedly empower the whole community and thus, the entire nation.

Investing in children is investing in the future. If you have the will power to make a difference in the lives of these poor souls by supporting this project with your donation. All you need to do is, contribute to the scholarship program for these children as sponsors. The cost to educate one child for an entire year is US$340 (Euro 245), which is our partial sponsorship program. Local guardians will be authorized to utilize this fund for children’s education.  We have the local monitors who will ensure that the funds are used for the children’s educational needs and who will also evaluate whether the children are really benefited or not. Moreover they will also report the children’s progress to CWCS Nepal.  We will periodically send you the children’s regular progress report in every six months to assure you that the contribution you made has indeed been useful for the purposes for which it was intended.

CWCS Nepal welcomes all interested volunteers / individuals to help fund-raise in any way. Such people are truly invaluable to a small & growing organization like ours. It is only through the kindness and generosity of private individuals that CWCS Nepal is able to function. As such, financial assistance of any size does make a difference and is truly appreciated. To sponsor a child is a rewarding way of helping those who are unable to help themselves. However we would like to remind those thinking about sponsorship that it is a big commitment.
